Team building at Karapiro

Room 14 and 12 went to lake Karapiro on the 22nd of March so that we can learn education outside the classroom.

My favourite activity was the Kayaking because I haven't done it before and it was a cool experience and the instructor told us how to be safe in the water.

The trickiest challenge was the team building games with Dianne because we had to do a lot of hard team work.

When I did the kayaking I was scared at first but Kerin the instructor helped me overcome my fear of kayaking. Then I was happy again that was all thanks to Kerin.

It was important to listen to the instructor about how to stay safe in the water. And how to paddle properly by putting your right hand on the bump on your paddle you've chosen.

  4. I like how you told me details about your fun trip. I want to tell you about the time when the whole 5th grade in my school went to a awesome camp. We had team building but we were in canoes with a friend but I had an epic splashing battle with another group. But we got to do all other sorts of things like go zip lining, watch a movie, and many other things. I loved rock climbing because I got to the top and back down very fast and I was the fastest in my group. I bet that in team building we did many different things that you did. I like how you told me that your constructer helped you a lot because that really got my attention when I was reading your writing. I wish you could experience the fun of the Camp Timber Lee because I want to tell as many people in the world that Camp Timber Lee is the best place to have fun. My least favorite thing was probably the night walk because we didn’t get to see any light for about 1 hour and I couldn’t see where I was going. When we got into the light my eyes hurt because we didn’t see light for hours. I enjoyed your writing and if you want to see some of my writing visit my blog at https://kidblog.org/class/mr-medernach-2015-16/posts?author=4clz3r6kvd1epgo5nn90vai01&status=published&status=review&status=draft.

  5. I really liked your post but I have some questions for you to answer. First of all are team building and kayaking all you did or did you do other stuff such as archery? Next why were you scared of kayaking at first? I know I was because I don’t like water sometimes but what about you? Another question I have is why was the team building hard? Was it because your team was made up with people who don’t communicate well or is it because they were all friends and just wanted to talk? That’s all the reasons I can think of but if you know the answer and both of them aren’t correct then can you tell me it. What do you mean when you say a lot of hard team work? Did you have to get to a rope out of reach without jumping cause that is always fun to do and we sometimes fail which I still hate doing. I also have one question about your country. Do you have pizza in that country because I love pizza and if you don’t have pizza in your country then you are missing out on the deliciousness of the pizza?! 6. Hi! I liked your blog. It brought back good memories of when we went to Camp- Timber- Lee. When we went we did canoeing like how you did kayaking. We also did lots of team- building challenges. They were really fun. The challenges were things like building a fire. I liked them. So what other things did you do at your camp? We did other things like zip lining and archery. How long did you stay? At my camp we stayed for two nights! At our camp, the whole 5th grade got to go! It was crazy, though, because the boys went nuts! We also split up into groups, but there were a lot more than three groups. Did you like the people in your group? I liked only a few kids in my group. My closest friend in my group was a girl named Jackie. Did you have any friends in your group? Another thing we did was a night walk. It was kind of scary because we were in the dark in a forest and the branches on trees looked like they wanted to grab you. I will always miss Camp- Timber- Lee.

  7. Hi!! My name is Kallie and I am so excited to comment on your blogs! I did something like what you guys are doing when I went to Outdoor Ed! I had a blast! We went canoeing, which is just like kayaking! It was fun, but when we were on the water, a storm started, and was really bad. My friends and I had to be towed by the rescue boat back to shore because of the storm! Then, later that night, we were watching a movie, and they made us go to this underground place called Timber-Cross and they said that we were going to play a game, but wound up watching the end of the movie. We were all mad because we had to run in the storm ad it was really bad!

Now, here are some questions about your trip. Where was it? What was the campsite called because I love to travel to new places and might go there sometime!? In outdoor ed, we got to see some wild animals, and the iguana had gotten out of his cage!! The staff caught him, though! Did you get to see some animals? Most importantly, did you have fun? I had a blast commenting on your blog!

  9. I liked hearing about you trip. I think you could explain the other names to people like me so I can get an idea of who they are and why you did the things with them. I went on a trip too and we went canoeing, and oh my gosh it was awesome. What pets do you have, I have 10 pets. What sports do you like or play too. In your story I liked how you added detail and pictures about the trip. It sounded like you had a bunch of fun there. I would love to hear more about your trip and see more pictures about your trips, I also think you should add captions to your pictures so people like me can see the meaning of the picture. I also had an idea for you, I think you can add little parentheses so you can say what things or who people are. I can wait to hear more about you and I had fun reading you story to see what you did and how much fun you had ;). I would also recommend you visiting my page so you could see my experience doing stuff outdoors with friends like you did (the link is below). I had fun reading your things and you did a good job writing it.

  10. Hello I’m Cameron I live in Geneva, Illinois I go to Mill Creek and my teacher is Mr. Medernach
Our whole grade went to Wisconsin and stayed at Camp Timber Lee and we did team building, and canoeing, and archery like you guys did. I would like to know what raft building is though that sounds like fun. Did you do any other things besides raft building, kayaking, aqua slide, archery, and team building? Did you stay in cabins or campers? We stayed in campers. How long did you stay in Karapiro. We stayed in Wisconsin for 3 days. We had 3 groups of 16 and 1 group of 12 while we were at Camp Timber-Lee. What do you mean by room 12 and 14 got split into? We had 63 children at Camp Timber-Lee. How many did you have there? Was it just one grade or all different grades (like at Camp Timber lee only 5th grade was there)? When I had archery he spent most of our time talking we got five minutes of actually shooting the arrow. And that is what I think and want to know about your amazing trip. Thank you for telling me about your trip.

  11. Hi, my name is Collin.
I had a similar experience at a place in northern Wisconsin called camp timberly. We did team building experiences just like you. We also did a team building experience where we had to get people across an area which was the “lava” and we had to get cross without jumping and we also had to stand on each other’s shoulders.
I live in a town just outside of Chicago IL Usa. I have 4 pets. Three dogs, Rosie is a boxer reverse brindle, Duncan is a fawn boxer, and Brian is a white boxer. I also have one pet crow a leopard gecko. I had two leopard geckos but one of them died while I was in Orlando Florida. Do have any pets? I have always wanted to go to New Zealand to see the hobbit and Lord of the rings areas where they were filmed. Have you ever seen the setting of lord of the rings or the hobbit before? Have you been to Australia or Indonesia? Do you play the guitar because I can? I can play hot cross buns, big ben, Mary had a little lamb, amazing grace, London bridge, twinkle twinkle, do re me fa so, abc’s, black sheep, and go tell aunt Rhode.

  12. In fifth grade we do something similar to what you did. We went to Out Door Ed, in Wisconsin.
In your post you said that you had to do team work. When we went to Out Door we also had to do team building. When we were there it rained a lot, so I did not get to do the team building activity.
I hated that it rained so much. My group missed a lot of activities. We missed rock climbing, team building, and a survival activity. One night when my cabin was all ready to go to bed, all the chaperones phones where going off with an alarm say “warning flash flood warning flash flood.” It was raining so hard that there was a flash flood.
We had to do canoeing, which is similar to Kayaking. During Canoeing we had to also use team work. There where two people in the canoe. It was hard because if you wanted to turn left then you would have to paddle on the right side of the canoe boat.
I was with a friend named Kate. She has been canoeing before so it was easy for her. I have never been though.
When we were canoeing a bunch of people where bumping into us. One time someone bumped into us so hard they almost broke my finger.
I had a lot of fun there, I hope you had fun too.

  13. Hello! I am Evan from the USA. I live in Geneva, Illinois. I heard you live in New Zealand. That’s cool. So you went to a camp or something? That’s also cool! I see you went kayaking and played other games. My grade and I went to a camp called camp Timber-lee in September. We canoed, touched animals like snakes, birds, and turtles, slept over, and watched movies because it was down pouring. We didn’t kayak. We shot a bow and arrow at a target. We also played gaga ball, a game where you hit a ball and try to make it hit someone’s feet, because they will then be out. The last one standing wins. The boys had a separate cabin from the girls. We also went zip lining and went on a scavenger hunt. What did you do at your day at the camp?
What is it like in New Zealand? Is it hot? It is south, so it must be. New Zealand kind of had a flag like the United Kingdom’s. It actually has one in the upper left corner. What sports do you like? I like football (American), basketball, baseball, and golf. It was nice meeting you!
    Evan
