This term for maths we are learning about measurement. So today at maths we were learning about lengths. what we were doing for lengths was measuring how big or small was our seat. How we did that was we got a piece of string that was about 1 meter and 30 centimetres long.first we had to get a buddy to measure how long between our shoulder muscle and our hip was.then we had to write it down in our book and if you measure and it is 28-32 cm then your chair is the perfect size for you.

Room 14 Marble treat

On Friday was our marble treat!  To celebrate getting 100 marbles in the jar we had a P.J. party, shared lunch and a capture the flags game against Room 12.  It was also Titus’ 10th birthday, so he brought in an amazing birthday cake to share with us all that his Nan had made – a blue monster.  It was delicious!  We had the best day!  We are now working hard to try and earn our next 100 marbles – go Room 14!

Wow! Mrs Gunns Friday Gift

Check out this work of art!  This delicious, clever creation was given to Mrs Gunn on Friday from Oliver and his family – it is a daffodil cupcake.  The flower has been made completely out of icing!  Isn’t it amazing – it looks so real . . . . and tastes so yummy!

People in our Lives that show the Value of Excellence

For home learning this week we had to discuss with our families what the word 'excellence' means to us now that we have studied this for 5 weeks in class.  We then had to come up with a success criteria for how we could measure excellence in a person.  Then we had to think about a family member or friend that we knew that we felt measured up to this criteria.  Here are our thoughts:

Scream Artwork Update

Today we added the hair to our portraits.

To do this we used a straw to dab liquid dye around the head. Then we had to blow outward as much as possible to get thick and then thin lines.  We had such a  blast adding the crazy hair!  Here is some photos of us doing this part.  Come to Room 14 sometime to check out our amazing work!

Our Artwork!

This week we have been finding out more about the Scream Artwork - created by artist Edvard Munch in 1893.  It is a type of expressionist art work.  Today we made some scream art, that's when we draw ourselves screaming. First we drew ourselves with pencils and went over it in sharpie. We colored in our faces with pastel and made rosy cheeks, then we colored in our clothes, oh and we made our mouths wide open so that we looked like were screaming. We colored in our mouths black but left the teeth white. These are some of the pieces of artwork we made so far:

don't they look cool!!!

Moving the shed
